Paxil Law Suit

Comments Off

About a year ago the FDA classified Paxil from a Category C drug to a Category D for pregnant women. The classification or reclassification means that it is proven harmful for a pregnant woman to take this drug. There are proven complication with the drug and both animal and human fetus’.

It is important to point out that Paxil treats a wide variety of “disorders,” many pregnant women that take Paxil do not know of the risks mainly because they have never been diagnosed with the depression that it is prescribed for.

According to GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Paxil is indicated for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder (MDD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder; and Paxil CR is indicated for the treatment of panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Doctors are also too eager to prescribe Paxil off-label for everything from migraines to nail biting.
