Sports Balls Recalled By Sportime Due To Excessive Lead

Comments Off

Sportime, in cooperation with the CPSC, announced a voluntary recall of foam balls because the surface paints on the balls contain excessive levels of lead.

To date, there have been no reports of illness in connection with the recalled toys. However, lead can be toxic if ingested by young children.

The recall involves: SchoolSmart TechnoSkin Coated Foam Balls and TechStitched Soccer Balls. For your reference, the CPSC News Release includes photos of the recalled items.

The items were available in the Sportime catalog and on the company’s Web site at www.schoolspecalty.com from December 2006 through August 2009.

Consumers should call Sportime to arrange a refund or replacement product. In the meantime, the recalled products should be taken away from children.

Consumer Information: Call Sportime toll-free at (888) 388-3224 or visit www.SchoolSpecialty.com.
